One envelope. One real story. One small piece of someone else's life.

No screen. No two months alike. Real paper you can hold, keep, and come back to — printed and posted, just for you.

You never know whose life is coming next. That's the best part.

  • i

    A story

From a life on the other side of the world — told the way only they could tell it.

  • ii

    A memory

The kind of thing people mean, but rarely say out loud.

  • iii

    A recipe

In their own measurements — with the story folded in alongside it.

  • iv

    A tradition

A glimpse of how life is lived somewhere you've never been.

  • v

    A lesson

Something they learned the hard way, so you won't have to.

What arrives

This is what it feels like to open one.

A Dear Stranger letter, opened
Dear stranger,
Every Sunday my grandmother made the same soup, in the same dented pot, and refused to write the recipe down. “If you want it,” she said, “you have to stand here with me.” So I stood there, every Sunday, for eleven years. She’s gone now. The pot is on my stove. And I’m sending you the recipe — because she never let me write it down, but she never said anything about telling a stranger.
— A stranger in Lisbon, Portugal

An excerpt from a real letter · every month is different

A better way to feel connected to the world.

We scroll past thousands of people every day and never get to know any of them. Dear Stranger slows that down. Each month, we find one real piece of someone's life — and mail it to you.

This month's letter comes from LuLu in Mallorca.

What begins as a journey to Uganda becomes something much more. Lulu shares a deeply personal story about community, purpose, and the lives that changed her own. What started as a visit grew into lasting friendships, and eventually inspired her to launch a clothing company dedicated to helping children from this small village attend school. It's a story about connection, giving back, and how sometimes the places we travel to end up changing us far more than we ever expected.

The strangers behind the letters

Real people. Real lives.

A note from the founder

Dear stranger — I started this club because the internet made it easy to see everyone and impossible to know anyone. So every month, we find one person with a story worth telling, print it on real paper, and mail it to you. No feed. No algorithm. Just one human, in your hands.

— Sam · Founder, Dear Stranger · United States of America
